About the programme

Clinical expertise, built for the pharmacy you already practise.

The programme develops pharmacists’ competence to integrate clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge in order to optimise patients’ use of medicines — bridging the gap between the dispensary and the clinical decision at the bedside.

Who it’s for

Practising pharmacists who hold a Master’s degree in pharmacy (the proviisor qualification). The programme is linked to the University of Tartu’s Clinical Pharmacy curriculum and sits at EQF level 7.

How you’ll learn

Studies take place entirely online in the University of Tartu’s Moodle environment. Each course combines:

  • Live webinars
  • Guided discussions
  • Video lectures
  • Practical case studies drawn from real clinical situations

Taught by

Lecturers who hold a PhD, an MD, and/or a Master’s degree in clinical pharmacy, with experience in adult education.

By the end, you will be able to

  1. Describe the main stages of pharmacotherapy — defining the problem, setting the treatment goal, selecting therapy and judging its appropriateness, counselling the patient, and monitoring or discontinuing treatment.
  2. Select the medicine and dose for the individual patient and their clinical condition — organ function, body weight, comorbidities, genetics and more.
  3. Assess and manage the risks of polypharmacy, including drug interactions and adverse effects.
  4. Find reliable, evidence-based information to answer questions on pharmacotherapy in everyday practice.
